What is Solar Power?

Solar power is the conversion of the sun’s energy into power. There are 2 types of energy generated – electricity (solar PV) and heat (solar thermal)

Solar PV (photovoltaic) will enable you to generate your own on-site green energy and is the main solar solution we deliver.
The solar panels are usually made from silicon layers. When photons, or particles of light, hit the thin layer of silicon on the top of a solar panel, they knock electrons off the silicon atoms. This PV charge creates an electric current, which is captured and converted.

Solar thermal, is when the sun is used to generate heat in the solar panels and this heat is harvested and used as necessary. If there is surplus thermal solar energy available, it can also be used in power stations.
